BE IT REMEMBERED, that the White County Drainage Board held a regular meeting on Monday, July 7, 2014. The meeting was held at the White County Building, 2nd floor, commissioners’ conference room beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Drainage Board members present were: President Steve Burton, Vice President John Heimlich and Member David Diener. Also, present were the White County Attorney George W. Loy, White County Surveyor Bradley E. Ward and the Surveyor’s Secretary Sharon Broussard.

MINUTES

  • Member Diener made a motion to approve the minutes as presented for the regular meeting held on June 16, 2014, seconded by Vice President Heimlich. Vote: Unanimous

A.W. FRIDAY BRANCH OF DORSEY #532 – OPEN QUOTES

White County Surveyor Ward invited three (3) contractors to submit quotes. There were no quotes received to open.

J. FARIS #534 – PETITION FOR MAINTENANCE

Petition carried by Trent Pherson for Charles Tribbett. Twelve percent (12%) of the watershed signed the petition. The account balance is $13,949.87. The annual assessment is $2,925.30. The four year maximum is $11,701.20.

  • Vice President Heimlich made a motion to accept the Petition for Maintenance on the J. Faris #534, seconded by Member Diener. Vote: Unanimous

ACKERMAN MAIN DITCH #501 – PETITION FOR MAINTENANCE

Petition carried by Monty Moss. Thirty-three percent (33%) of the watershed signed the petition. The account balance is $42,725.45. The annual assessment is $11,169.15. The four year maximum is $44,676.60.

Surveyor Ward stated the Petition for Maintenance is for the Ackerman #505 Main only. There are multiple branches to the Ackermann system and it runs through half the township near Headlee. The main runs about 6 miles. Reconstruction project was about 8-10 years ago.

  • Vice President Heimlich made a motion to accept the Petition for Maintenance on the Ackerman #501, seconded by Member Diener. Vote: Unanimous

NIPSCO – CONSENT TO ENCROACH

The plan is a power line rebuild running from west county line to Monticello. NIPSCO will encroach upon multiple drains and tiles by poles.

Surveyor Ward is compiling a list of drains and tiles that need Consent to Encroach and will give the list to NIPSCO and White County Attorney Loy. He told Attorney Loy he would put all information together from the surveyor’s office to write up the encroachment. Also, copies of all information will be provided to NIPSCO.

After discussion of which line was to be upgraded:

  • Member Diener made a motion to grant NIPSCO the Consent to Encroach, seconded by Vice President Heimlich. Vote: Unanimous

Attorney Loy indicated there would be a fee for preparing the Consent to Encroach.

W.F. MYERS BRANCH #1 #565 – RIGHT TO ENCROACH

Luke Bahler with Bahler Repair request the Right to Encroach on the W.F. Myers Branch #1 #565. He wants to put up a business sign at SR18 and CR700 W. Mr. Bahler was not present today.

  • Member Diener made the motion to allow Bahler Repair to encroach on the W.F. Myers Branch #1 #565 pending all requirements and conditions by White County Area Plan for his sign, seconded by Vice President Heimlich. Vote: Unanimous

There being no further business to come before the board, their meeting was adjourned.
