BE IT REMEMBERED, that the White County Drainage Board held a regular meeting on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. The meeting was held at the White County Building, 2nd floor, Commissioners’ Conference Room beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Drainage Board members present were: President Steve Burton, Vice President John Heimlich and Member David Diener. Also present were the White County Attorney George W. Loy, White County Surveyor Bradley E. Ward and the Surveyor’s Secretary Sharon Broussard.

Others present were:

Mike Kyburz – White County Highway Superintendent

Sharon Watson – White County Soil & Water

 

MINUTES

· Vice President Heimlich made a motion to approve the minutes as presented for the regular meeting held on August 18, 2014, seconded by Member Diener. Vote: Unanimous

LEWIS FRIDAY #537 – WAIVER REQUEST

Carroll County Surveyor, Donald A. Shockley, sent a proposal to the White County Drainage Board to increase the Lewis Friday regulated drain assessment at the October 6, 2014, Carroll County Drainage Board meeting due to a negative balance. He stated we can either waive participation on the joint board; or request a Joint Drainage Board Hearing to discuss raising the assessment in more detail.

White County has 180.34 benefitted acres and Carroll County has 120.00 benefitted acres. The current rate for the Lewis Friday drain is $2.00 per acre with a $5.00 minimum. The proposed per acre rate would be $4.00 per acre with a $20.00 minimum. This increase assessment would start with the 2015 tax collections. Surveyor Ward stated the White County Drainage Board waived their rights for a Joint Drainage Board twenty-five (25%) rate increase on December 3, 2013.

· Vice President Heimlich made a motion to request a Joint Drainage Board Hearing, seconded by Member Diener. Vote: Unanimous

 

CALVIN SHARKEY TILE DRAIN #710 – PETITION FOR RECONSTRUCTION

Petition carried by Wes Schroeder for Janice and Janet Wantz.

 

· Member Diener made a motion to accept the Petition for Reconstruction on the Calvin Sharkey #710, seconded by Vice President Heimlich. Vote: Unanimous.

E.M. FERGUSON DRAIN #691 – PETITION FROM LANDOWNERS

Petition carried by the land owners, assessed on the E.M. Ferguson Drain #691, in favor of option #4, as being the feasible alternative for now, then evaluating the situation in a year or two.

· Member Diener made a motion to accept the petition from the landowners, seconded by Vice President Heimlich. Vote: Unanimous
