BE IT REMEMBERED, that the White County Commissioners held a regular meeting on Monday, March 2, 2015. The meeting was held at the White County Building, 2nd floor Commissioners’ Conference Room beginning at 8:00 a.m.

 

Commissioners present were: President John C. Heimlich, Commissioner Steve Burton and Commissioner David Diener. Also present was the White County Auditor Gayle Rogers, White County Attorney George Loy and the Commissioners’ Assistant Donya Tirpak.

 

Commissioner Heimlich called the meeting to order.

 

MINUTES

  • Commissioner Burton made a motion to approve the minutes from the regular meeting held on February 17, 2015, seconded by Commissioner Diener. Vote: Unanimous

 

PAYROLL

  • Commissioner Diener made a motion to approve the payroll for March 2, 2014, as presented, second by Commissioner Burton. Vote: Unanimous

 

CLAIMS

  • Commissioner Diener made a motion to approve and pay the claims as presented, seconded by Commissioner Burton. Vote: Unanimous

 

HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT

Highway Superintendent Mike Kyburz said that he is working with representatives of Rieth-Riley Construction about temporarily closing a portion of Luse Road while they relocate utilities. The road was going to be closed today, but with the weather being so bad they have moved it off to March 12.

 

APPOINTMENT – COMMON WAGE BOARD HEARING

  • Commissioner Diener made a motion to appoint JC Copas as the awarding agency taxpayer representative and Steve Burton as the county legislative body taxpayer representative to the Common Construction Wage Board for the Frontier School project, seconded by Commissioner Burton. Vote: Unanimous

 

HIGHWAY BIDS

County Attorney George Loy announced that the Highway Department has advertised the request for bids for one (1) pick-up truck, three (3) dump trucks, and one (1) chip spreader. At this time, the time has expired for bids to be submitted.

Commissioner Heimlich announced that the bids will be taken under advisement and awarded at the next meeting.

 

GORDON ROAD

At the last meeting, the commissioners authorized contracts for the Gordon Road project from American Structurepoint to be submitted to INDOT for their approval. Kevin Jasinski, Project Manager, said that INDOT has approved the contracts and now they must be approved by the commissioners for the final approval.

 

The first contract for $274,110 is for the design and right-of-way engineering services for Gordon Road from SR 39 to Sixth Street in Monticello; and the second contract is for $135,650 for the right-of-way acquisition services for Gordon Road. The estimated construction cost is $2.9 million.

 

  • Commissioner Diener made a motion to approve the two contracts for the Gordon Road project as presented, seconded by Commissioner Burton. Vote: UnanimousBBi

 

 

EMA – GRANT

EMA Director Roberta Yerk presented a 2014 Emergency Management Performance Grant-Salaries Sub-Grant Agreement to be approved by the commissioners. This grant reimburses the county half of the salaries that were paid out for 2014 for the EMA Department. The county will be reimbursed $29,654.21 from the 2014 Emergency Management Performance Grants program.

 

  • Commissioner Diener made a motion to approve the EMA Performance Grant as presented, seconded by Commissioner Burton. Vote: Unanimous
