ASSESSED VALUATIONS
Auditor Mary Jo Pool passed out the Net Assessed Valuation Sheet and was pleased to announce it was down $23 million from last year because farm ground is assessed differently now. The County’s assessed valuation for year 2005 pay 2006 is $1,298,596,142.00. She also passed out an informational sheet about reassessment from the State of Indiana. Mrs. Pool noted reassessment wouldn’t occur until March of 2011.
CEDIT
Councilman Horton asked if Auditor Pool could investigate what could be done to raise the County Economic Development Income Tax to help offset the lack of any inventory tax and report back to the Council on her findings. Councilman Schmierer wants to address the employee evaluation situation as well. Councilman Cain suggested putting new employees at a base pay and work their way up to higher wages instead of hiring on at the previous employees’ wages. The Council will look into these issues at an upcoming meeting.

There being no more business to come before the Council, Councilman Schmierer moved to adjourn. Councilman Horton seconded the motion. Vote: Unanimous
