RAED GRANT PROGRAM

Commissioner Heimlich discussed a letter that was sent to the Commissioners from Hoosier Up Lands.

The Rural Access to Emergency Devices (RAED) Grant Program which is funded through the U.S. Department of Health Resources and Services Administration’s Office of Rural Health Policy would like to place Automated External Defibrillators in rural areas of Indiana at no cost.

Commissioner Heimlich said that he has taken the application over to the Fire/Ambulance Department and they recommended that the county participate in the grant application since it is at no cost to the county.

The letter stated that a RAED Placement Sheet, questionnaire, must be completed. The application request that a committee be made up to determine the placement of the AED.

  • Commissioner Burton made a motion that the White County Commissioners make the application for the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) with Hoosier Up Lands, seconded by Commissioner Ferguson. Vote: Unanimous

EARTHQUAKE INSURANCE

Commissioner Heimlich discussed a letter from Heiny Insurance Agency regarding excess earthquake insurance. To take out an excess of $8 million of additional insurance the premium would be an additional $4,202.00. Currently, we already have $10 million of coverage.

The Commissioners would like more time to make this decision.

TELEPHONE SYSTEM

Commissioners Assistant Donya Tirpak presented a quote from Sprint for a new Fiber Station Module and new block of 100 DID numbers for the telephone system in the courthouse. Currently, the station module is filled up and we are not able to install additional telephones. Adding this unit will enable us to have enough room for another 16 telephones to be installed in the courthouse. Without the module the new telephones needed for the remodeling cannot be installed. The cost of the Fiber Station Module is $611.00.

The courthouse has also used up the 100 block of phone numbers. If we want to install new telephone lines we might have to purchase a new block of 100 DID numbers. Donya explained that there might be a way to take some DID telephone numbers away from telephones that aren’t be used a lot. The cost of a new block of 100 DID numbers will be $117.00/month.

  • Commissioner Burton made a motion to approve the purchase of the Fiber Station Module from Sprint in the amount of $611.00, seconded by Commissioner Ferguson. Vote: Unanimous

There being no further business to come before the board, their meeting was adjourned.
