SANDY DANFORD – TAXPAYER

Sandy Danford, appeared before the Commissioners saying that she currently has a delinquent tax on the property for an added assessment that was put on the tax roll eight months after she had purchased the property. The added assessment was for the 2002 taxes pay in 2003, which she wasn’t even the property owner at that time.

Mrs. Danford explained that she purchased the property from Woods Properties, which they had bought the property on a foreclosure sale.

Union Township Assessor Judy Bertram explained that when they rolled the Property Record Card from Atek to Manatron all of the one-story homes didn’t come across. This was a glitch in the system and was found by accident.

On the actual re-assessment date Weatherholt was the property owner. Weatherholts’ lost to the property on a foreclosure sale to Bank One. On the day of the Sheriff’s sale, September 18, 2002, Woods Properties purchased the property from Bank One. Woods Properties paid all of the back taxes. The delinquent tax is around $400.00.

White County Attorney George Loy said that he will look over all of the files but from the information given today he feels that Woods Properties should pay the deliquent tax. There should not be a lien on Sandy Danford’s real estate.

Attorney Loy will get together with White County Treasurer Cathy Gross and draft an appropriate letter.
