BE IT REMEMBERED, that the White County Commissioners held a regular meeting on July 6, 2004, at the White County Courthouse, 2nd floor, Commissioners’ chambers at 8:00 a.m.

Commissioners’ present was: President John C. Heimlich, Commissioner Vice President and Commissioner member O.D. “Bud” Ferguson. Also present was the White County Attorney George Loy, and the Commissioners Secretary Donya Tirpak.

Commissioner John C. Heimlich called the meeting of the Commissioners to order.

MINUTES

Commissioner Schmierer made a motion to approve the minutes as presented for June 21, 2004, seconded by Commissioner Ferguson. Vote: Unanimous

PAYROLL

Commissioner Ferguson made a motion to approve the payroll as presented for July 12, 2004, seconded by Commissioner Schmierer. Vote: Unanimous

CLAIMS

Commissioner Schmierer made a motion to approve and pay the claims as advertised, seconded by Commissioner Ferguson. Vote: Unanimous

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Gordy Cochran, Director, appeared before the Commissioners requesting signatures on a 2004 Homeland Security Sub-Grant Agreement. The sub-grant is for $199,352 allocated from the following programs:

A: $184,078 of this sub-grant is from the F.Y. 2004 State Homeland Security Program.

B: $15,274 of this sub-grant is from F.Y. 2004 Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program.

Another grant application in which Gordy requested signatures showed $24,701 allocated to White County from the State Homeland Security Grant Program for the GIS Orthophotography. Gordy said that there will be some county match to this grant but it will not be a big deal. Funds in the amount of $11,111 will be for Agriculture Counter-Terrorism. This money will be used to train veterinarians.

NEXTEL

Anne McKnight, Market Development Manager for Nextel, appeared before the Commissioners presenting a new 4 in 1 product where it is a cell phone, internet pager, 2-way radio and internet service. A couple of new customers that currently use Nextel are Twin Lakes School Corporation, City of Delphi, Delphi Sheriff Dept., City of Indianapolis, and the City of Logansport.

There being no further business to come before the board, meeting was adjourned.
